Default No boost

hi, i have refurbished my turbo as it was smoking, put all back together and took for a drive no smoke but also no boost, any ideas?

are all boost pipes on
actuator set correctly

does the turbo spin when engine is running

take the hose off the front and have a look to see

hi, yep turbo spins, all hoses are on and done up tight and the actuator was left as it was when i took it off, although i did notice a deep whining noise coming from the turbo

no i didn't, just bought a kit off ebay. thought i would give it a try but may have to pay out for a new turbo

turbo chargers are ment to be ballenced to something like 100,000 rpm mate

may be the turbo thats the problem

did you mark the shaft/nut/wheels up etc??

It could be the actuator is not setup correctly, or the turbo, these arn't a DIY job really, thats why a rebuild is costly, as said the balancing is the hard part and is really a specialist job, I guess with the 'Ebay kit' you are merely replacing seals etc?

You can get someone to rebuild your turbo for you, remember if you do decide to uprate it's not just a simple case of 'bolting the new one on', you will need a new chip etc, and unless you have more power in mind, there really is no point!

Think i have found the problem (bit embarressing really) found one of the blades on the turbine wheel has broken off, didnt notice when i had it apart
