Best way to jump a 4x4
Ive got a 4x4 cossie and the battery has gone dead. Only prob is, the car has been delocked, and the keys not opening the boot. If i manage to jack it up ( parked in a way that it wont grow legs and go walkies with the wrong owners ) is there anything i can connect jump leads to from underneath eg the starter? Failing that the aa may be called lol

To get the alarm/rcl working you should only need a tiny amount of power, so you dont need need to worry about using a jump lead if its awkward to get at, just attach any old thin bit of wire to it then put that on a battery and that should let you open it up so you can use the jump leads properly.

The boot light is permantely live so you could have used this but seen as you can't get into the boot that won't help! You can use the heavy duty red wire which goes to the solenoid/starter as said and a ground, i.e. the engine earth strap, that as chip suggests this will be enough to at least power up the alarm system and thus you can then open the doors.
I too have been in the same situation as you are in and I managed to open my bonnet from the outside, it wasen't easy however! The method you have is a better option I should think.

When you do get it sorted, might be worth, a bit of rewiring to a lock, when i had mine delocked, i put extra wiring into the boot solinoid, to pop it with a 9v battery in a flat battery situation

Nice one cheers fellas. Looks like ill try it tomorrow. I may have a think about the 9v battery idea, as the car seems to have a drain on it as batterys only 2 weeks old lol
