Default Fan loom help

I have a fan loom and has 2 black wires coming off it to connect to the O.E fan switch plug - do the wires have to go a certain way around or not?

Black/red & Brown on the plug

Also the wiring on the plug must have got hot at some point as half of the copper is blackened, is this still fine to use?

they can go either way chris it just makes a circuit when up to temp.

As for the wiring, yes it should be fine, its only a trigger for the relay,no real current runs through it.

As said re the switch.

Was it standard before? As it could be in the past some numpty has tried to wire the fans via the switch hence the blackness, assuming it's just not corrosion?

But yes it SHOULD only trip the relay, so little draw.

It's also worth uprating the switch as this is what causes half the problem in the first place!

Not from CW/MSD - the ones from Paul and other places may come with a switch but i'm not sure if it's rated the same as the MSD item

I would hope so, the name is actually a little misleading as there is nothing "Uprated" about it at all, only difference is the span. The original switch belongs in the bin, thats not to be confused with the Ford parts bin it came from either
