Rebuilding distributor

As title is it possible as mine has excessive play and worried it's messing around with the gap in the phase sensor

any advice

Ive got a spare, or maybe 2 with play in them. Always intended to have a proper look at them but never get round to it. Will be watching this thread with interest now
