Default water pump question

Is a 2wd cosworth water pump the same as a Ford Cortina 2.0 pinto one, looks identicle side by side they are just allot cheaper and was wondering if there was a reason etc...

I know for sure the 2.0 sierra one is the same as ive just fitted one to mine for the grand sum of 17 quid. works as good if not better than the origional ford one. lots lighter too as made from alloy and think the origional genuine one's are cast iron

Yeah thats what mine is and is alot cheaper than a cossie one and like you say thay are the same...

2L= Pinto, unless you had circa 1990 model onward then it would be a DOHC, (L4)

No problem, I believe out of interest the 4x4 pump was redesigned (Impeller is different IIRC).

The pipes are on different sides too.The saff 4x4 pumps are unique to the 4x4 yb engines. There bloody double the price too.
