as you wind it inside, get someone to push it down at the rear and prise it forward at the same time

if the cables broke you need a new roof

What he ^^ said, if it tilts but does not slide back you have to push down on the back (From the outside) and unwind at the same time, I can do this by myself (Long arms) but if not get someone to push down on the back while you unwind. I guess it's something to do with the rubber swelling etc.

I gave up on mine as it`s badly seized up and can hear the rust while trying to open it.
I was wondering if any other ford sunroof fits . . .
Has anybody gone to the breakers to do some measuring up ?
Cheers & Good luck

The glass is the same size but the mechanisms can differ from model to model. For example, the Granada stuff fits in some cars and not in others as it's all to do with the protrusion of the winder spline through the roof.

Also, they work on a cable system which is coiled to the plastic of the frame of the mechanism so if that snaps you can't actually repair it as it will always jump out again.

Got a spare set up in the garage if you want some pics of what goes wrong.

Hi
What glass is the same size ? You mean there are other ford models with same size glass sunroof as the sapphire ? In case this , do you know which ones they are ?

Cheers

virtually all the 80's 90's car had the same glass with 3 screws either side

the mechanisms are thsus the same size too

other than the winder as some poke through more than others

lots of peeps have done it with granada roofs in the past, you just have to be lucky

there was 3 of us giving his first saff a good clean and he was doing something to the passenger side at the bottom of the door,
i was on the opposite side and he passed the polish over to me with out getting off the floor lol
plus he can put both arms out the windows to the shoulder
