Hi peeps. Need to change engine mounts on my 4x4 Saff..From memory, fitting std Mts were a bit of a pig, are the uprated ones any easier? Any tips greatly received! Cheers guys...

I changed these a couple of weeks ago on mine. If you know how to do them it's not too bad, but otherwise it can be quite a headache. The one underneath the turbo is easy, first put a jack underneath the sump. Undo the nut that connects the engine arm to the mount and undo the bolts that connect the mount to the subframe. To take the engine mount out you need to remove the engine arm fromt the engine by undoing the 4 bolts.

On the inlet side it's about the same, you also need to remove the engine arm. There is one bolt that connects the oil filter adapter arm to the engine arm, undo that one first. After that you can loosen the oil filter arm, rotate it upwards and tighten it a bit. After that you should have enough room to reach everything.

i did mine fitted collins ones. the old ones were bust so jacked engine up after undoing centre bolts and insides out mounts fell out they were that bad! took bases out and then dismantled collins ones and fitted them in bits. still a pain but easier if the old ones are completely broken. gary

Hi chaps, I know the benefits of fitting these mounts to 4x4's to help stop pulling out/destroying shafts but is it beneficial to fit these types of mounts to 2wd or does it make the ride/vibration harsh?

The vibration isnt to bad I think its the uprated gearbox mounts that cause mental vibration.

Having said that my dash did vibrate quite abit sometimes with them fitted.
