Default Water pump

How difficult etc and do i need to remove timing belt?.

Basically i started to cossie today after being laid up for a while and the water pump is rumbling like mad. Its had a very slow drip for a while but had a look today and its much worse. I can get them for a very reasonable price from my motor factors and they are a good quality aftermarket make. I specified that it was for a sierra cosworth 2wd and gave my chassis number so its deffo the right one. I mention aftermarket parts to some folks and they recoil in horror saying i should use genuine ford etc etc. My way of thinking is they have to be fairly good and ford sub out all there parts making to other companies so am i better off getting genuine ford or just a good quality aftermarket one??

Piece of p&@s job mate, factor parts are a bit cheaper but I would fit genuine ford part as
some factor bits are recon w/pumps. Not worth risk for £20
If been standin for ages stick neat coolant in .

As said though my local factors only deal with decent stuff. cheapest pump on ebay is £70 quid. they can get me a good quality one for £17. I have a very good mate who works there so get very good deals as ive been dealing with them for 15 years. At that price i could change it once a year as a service item lol
