Question on Oil
My Sierra RS Cossie 3dr is finally on its way to me in Australia from the UK.
This car has been on blocks for most of the past 18 years with only about a 6 month activity period about 4 years ago.
Its had a new cam belt fitted and all fluids etc changed before shipping. My question is, given the inactivity what oil would you recommend to help " soften" old seals etc ?
Its done 62,900 miles from new but only about 2000 of those in the last 18 years.
I'll give it a gentle run in when it arrives then a full service etc once I'm happy with things.
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks
Keith

Realistically you can't soften old seals, I would seriously expect the HG to go pop, if kept without anti freeze especially, and a host of problems, but nothing major.

Perhaps i should have phrased it better.
I've been told their are certain oils / additives that can help bring the seals back to life to a certain degree.
Thats what I'm trying to find out about.
Cheers

cossie fan (unluckerly)
you could try something like a slick 50 additive and a good oil thats a bit thicker maybe a 10/60 but drive it first and see if it has any problems it may not! but at that millage id just put a 10/50 in it and drive it!
