Default Sapph in OZ

Hi people.

Here's a few crappy phone pics of my 88 rwd sapph cossie.

It has been lowerd on eibach springs, koni adjustable front shocks, pedders rear shocks.
Autronic SMC ecu.
Custom built 3" exhaust.
K&N air filter in std airbox.
Green injectors.
Only running 12-13psi of boost though.

My plans are:

I have some BMW 4pot Brembo's and adaptor brackets. I just need to get some mk1 RS Focus front disks. Not that easy when they were never sold in Australia! Im still saving for the postage on these from the UK.

I also want to go hydraulic clutch. Im favouring the willwood pull type slave at the moment. Any advice on this would be appreciated!

And I would like some new rims. Im loving the look of Sapph's on comp TH2's. Again. Gota save some cash!

Also would like a 2871 turbo, electronic boost controler, engine rebuild and tune.

This will be a long term project though so dont expect major spending just yet!

Let me know what you think!

Cheers

Brett

looks tidy that. the 2 tone is different. is that as you got it? maybe to match the wheels??
love the back box lol. good luck with the project.
put ambers on it and the earlier rear lights -the number plate surround for the good old 80's/90's retro look lol. look forward to updates on this

Ok,
Had the car clay barred and polished today. When I got the car from the other side of Australia it came over on a train. This left it with iron dust bedded into the paint. Its all out now though!
While it was shiney I thought id take some pics.

[URL=http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/268/saph4.jpg/][/URL

Ive been looking at some of the wiring in the car and it hasnt realy been to my liking.
I removed the standard fan switch and set up the Autronic to take care of switching the fans. Much more acurate than a old switch!
I will be rewiring the fuel pump. Then rewiring the radio. Next year when I pull the engine for a rebuild the whole loom will get a going over!

Let me know what you think!

Its Dick Johnson's signature. Australian touring car legend. Not sure how well know he is in UK. He did have one of the best GrpA Sierra's though!

This is what i asked in a thread on another web site.

Right here goes, its a long shot but can you help me identify some disc rotors? these are the measurements i have, they are 295mm diameter and 28mm thick, min thickness 26mm total hight when laid flat. 45mm 4 bolt by 108mm PCD and a centre bore of 63.3mm also got some sumbers on the edge.
DIV 2128-001PR 0100. any help would be good want to know who makes them where can i get some from and how much are they.

My reply.

Thats it mate i dont know what they are off they are 1 piece vented discs they have a 4 x 108mm PCD and a 63mm center bore so they look like thay for a small european type Ford. maybe Mondeo, Focus etc etc, but i dont really know i have been offered them for my escort RS cosworth, but they are larger diameter. my standard ones are 278mm.

Mate yours is a 4X4 i have some bells in the UK (i think i have 2 sets) they are not here yet but i can find out the dimentions so it may be worth while just looking at disc rotors.
I know of a MK 1 focus RS here in Perth the guy (steve) has a MK1 and a Green MK2. Keep an eye out on Ebay UK they do come up.

Mines a 2wd with a 4x4 bonnet and tail lights.
So the mk1 focus front discs fit. Ive been checking out ebay uk.
There are some ebc sloted rotors that might be the go.
Just need the cash!

Update.

Got my brakes on!

Got some 324mm MK1 RS Focus discs over. They fit nicely with my E38 Brembo 4pots. I kept the calipers black too keep it std looking.
I also replaced the front wheel bearings. And got some new front 6inch component speakers in.

Here's the brakes.
What ya think?

Ok, Ive done a few things last week.

First, New wheels and tyres.

By clevocapri at 2012-08-06

By clevocapri at 2012-08-06

Then I setup my wasted spark ignition. As the car runs Autronic, I wired in another ignition module, connected to a Bosch motorsport 2x2 coil and custom made Magnecore leads. Changed a couple of settings in the ecu and were done. No more distributor!

By clevocapri at 2012-08-14

It starts alot nicer now. Thats the only difference I noticed.

I have a few parts together preparing for an engine freshen up.

By clevocapri at 2012-07-25

I will post some pics when the engines out!
Im also keen for a host of stack gauges. Tacho, boost, oil pressure, oil & water temp, might aswell go exhaust gas temp too!
And a wide band oxy sensor.
I need to win lotto!

How did you go with the plan to go to a hydraulic clutch? I am in Melbourne and my 87 Sierra is off the road at the moment and I am spraying the engine bay and generally tarting it back up to how it was when restored 8 years ago. Now is the best time to go hydraulic clutch as engine is out and only really see the Reyland kit as an option

Thanks for the comments guys!

OZHCR32, If your keen to make one up yourself it is fairly easy.
Im using a Wilwood Disc Brakes 260-1333 - Wilwood Slave Cylinder. Pull type. So no need to mess with the bell housing.
And then going to use a universal .75 master cyl. with a remote reservoir. The line can either be hard line with a flexible end or completely flexible.
I have not done mine yet but I have most of the parts ready to go. I can email you some pics I have of the pedal mods you need to do if your keen.

Here is a fresh pic I took on the weekend.

By clevocapri at 2012-08-26

Thanks Jimbo! When i brought the car I had every intention of getting rid of the two tone. But it kind of grew on me and I love it now. It does look better when its infront of you than the pics too!
And the TH2's work so well I think.

JIMBO, you cant do all that work and not use it mate! It needs to be driven hard!

mechanic28, Thanks mate, it certainly is unique with the two tone. I think its one of those things you either like it or hate it!

Looks trick. Thanks for the info. I am comfortable enough to mechanically do the mods required, what I am not sure about is the sizing of the cylinders and the resultant feel in the clutch pedal. May just check the master sizes you mention vs what my Nissan runs and go from there. Do you know the clamping effort of your clutch?

Can the A/C off a Saph be readily thrown on a 2dr? Problem with Aus is there are no wrecks around to go and steal parts off. That was one thing I was going to look at when in the UK in March
