Compbrake Tie-Rod Ends
Hi guys. I probably should email Compbrake direct, but being Friday night here, I know I will get a faster answer posting.
I was showing a mate my new tie-rod ends I just got from Combrake and he noticed that they have a straight M12 bolt and not a pinch bolt to suit the hole in the hub. I double checked the item on the site and there is no option for a pinch bolt... What am I doing wrong?
Cheers.

Nothing, the std type bolt you have will work perfect, as once tightened there shouldn't be movement between the tca joint and hub anyway, don't worry, a lot just think it needs to be like the oe ford bolt that is smooth, ie not threaded on the part that passes through the groove in the joint.
If you are bothered though simply by a longer M12 bolt and thread to size, shortening and threading as necessary.

Thanks Tab. Maybe I should have been a little clearer. It is the steering arm tie-rod end. The TCA's I also ordered have the tapered pinch bolt. They are fine.
I wouldn't mind using the straight bolt but it doesn't actually fit through the tappered hole in the hub. Should I drill it out to a M12? Compbrake site says it is a direct replacement.
I might take a few pics shortly just to clarify mate.

We call those rod ends, or rose joints, easily available, AMPEP are about the best ones imo, but more costly, will last a lifetime though, you will need to get some boots for these though.
I'd have a look on McGillracings website, as very good prices, just get some h/d ones with boots.
Just machine yourself, or use local engineer to make some sleeves for them to fit the hub/arm part, compbrake can be suspect in the QA dept.
