Default Propshaft center bearing mount question

Isn't there suppose to be two thick spacers between the prop center bearing mount and the chassis? I have seen an old picture in a workshop manual where those two spacer were visible. Im just not sure it was on a 4x4, so don't know if its the same on a cosworth.

On my car, they have never been there as long as i have owned it, but i also have a strange noise from the back of the car that is hard to trace. So maybe that could be the reason. If anyone has i picture, it would also help.

Those spacers are certainly present on the 2wd between the centre bearing carrier support and the body shell, about a 1/2" thick rectangular piece, presumably to keep the prop as straight as possible.

4x4 has just 2 thick washers, I'm guessing that you could add washers until shaft is straight

Funny you should post this. I just noticed mine were missing last week. Got some made up locally and behold, my propshaft vibration has gone

Only noticed when looking at someone else car on a ramp. Ive been told alsom you can just use washers to space it out.

I'm already making some alloy spacers for mine which I am going to fit later this week. I have looked at the original datasheets for 2wd and 4x4 and it is only at the 2wd the spacers are on. I really don't know why, because i seems like the 4x4 could also use some thick spacers to get the propshaft aligned properly. My prop is streched a hole lot upwards when the center bearing mount gets tightned without any spacers or washers. Maybe it has something to do with my uprated enginemounts??

Check pages:

336 = 2wd

384 = 4x4
