Question 2WD stutters at a certain temperature - HELP!!

Can someone shed some light on this one???

Basically my recently rebuilt (400 miles ago) Saff 2WD has developed a stutter and this happens only when the temperature hits the 'M' mark on the temperature gauge. Below or above this temperature, it works flawlessly!!

I checked it out with an Air / Fuel mixture gauge and found that when it does it, it gets very rich and is basically flooding itself. In fact if I'm driving slowly say in traffic and it reaches this temperatures, it goes off and then starts again with some difficulty. If I'm driving at speed, it stutters for say 10 or 20 seconds and once it goes beyond this temperature it settles down again and will not do it again (until it cools off....(?))

The car has an L6 ECU with a stage 1 chip of unknown origin, T34 and standard injectors (which I've serviced). The fuel pump (standard) and fuel filter were also changed and re-wired however I still get the stuttering.

Any idea anyone??

Might be worth changing the CTS for around £12, but could also be a unknown chip causing it not being very good.

Thanks Tabetha,

I'll give the CTS a try.

Do you know of any source where I can get a good ECU chip for my spec?

Thx.

Im running the same spec as you. I had one of MSDs custom chips done for this setup for £99. Set the mixture at 2.5% and it runs spot on. A little laggy with the T34 than with the standard T3 but has a lot more punch IMO.

That would be my next step once I change the CTS. Don't have much time at the moment and it seems like it's a pig to change being at the back....we'll see.

Changed it recently ... it IS a pig to change, but it can be done. Even from the top. (I did)
Just need to be quick with your hands, before all your coolant drains. LOL

Thumbs up

Just in case someone gets this fault at some point - the replacement of the CTS did fix the problem. Thanks to everyone who helped.
