If its a new bottom end ie rings and block honed etc, you will need to run it on mineral oil for a while. I just put some shitty halfords 10w40 mineral in mine. 250 miles then a change, 500 then changed again, then ran it upto 1000 miles. I just changed over to a 10w40 semi. I dont intend doing any track days etc so im sticking with the original 10w40 semi synthetic. I was recommended this by a friend who builds engines for various RSOC members.
Currently using Mobil Super 2000. And mine hasnt used a drop of oil in the last 500 miles since switching over.

Being a 'which oil' thread, your likely to get hundreds of different answers

You are perfectly SAFE to put fully synthetic in from the start, modern synthetics are vastly different than those of old and are used in millions of performance cars from the first turn of the key, the ONLY reason I say use a synthetic is purely on cost grounds.
I changed my oil/filter on my new build at 100, 500, 1000 miles, at 1000 the fully synth 10W60 went in.
As said pro s is now Fuchs Titan pro rs.
