Oil pressure switch 2 wire ???
Hi all,
Just sorting the wiring loom for my yb into my Mk1 cortina and on the oil pressure switch it has 2 terminals, 1 is obviously for the light but the other could be oil temp or pressure??? I think the engine was in an escos (not the original tho as its a 205 block)....

I can't see the other one being a temp output, it could be a pump cut out, older cars used these sometimes, so if the oil pressure went low enough due to malfunction it would drop the earth output, the pump relay being earthed through the switch would then cut fuel and stop engine.
I've not seen one used on a yb before, but when started just do some testing, to see if once running the other terminal changes state from dead to earth, the pump is normally also wired into the starter feed so it has pump whilst cranking.

It's a little way off starting yet, one wire is almost direct earth (0.2 ohms) so i presume this will be the switched earth for the light, once oil pressure is there it will become open circuit. The other side has about 50 ohms thats what makes me think pressure or temp....
