At stage 3 does this make a real difference?

In your colder climate you may not notice any benefit at stage 3, it adds a lot of weight also, personally if your temps are like I think mostly below 10C I wouldn't bother just use a 4wd i/cooler.
With a controlled chamber temp on the rollers of 18C I noticed around 3-5C drop with a RS500 type over a 4wd type, but of course a slight increase in lag due to larger volume.

Thats what I was thinking. We live in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and when I go to work the car flies but when I come home in hot muggy weather its sluggish.Even now its 5 or 6 degs C in the morning and 28C coming home. But in the winter no problems.

It always will be a marked difference between those temps, got to consider moisture in the air also, ie cars always go better in the rain, due to denser air.
Maybe look at your act's first, a simple gauge can be made up for around £5 to monitor these, that's what I did, it's designed for a computer(5v) but with a resistor works perfectly on 12v, had it now about 3 years.
I also have one temp probe in my air filter, on the end of the cone so it's not in any draughted air interesting to see the difference between this and the inlet plenum cover where the other probe is.

I can remember you making this tester and posting your results on here. I just hope the lag is gonna be really bad.

I'll do that tabetha, what do I need in the way of bits? By the way we don't get moist air, can't remember the last time we had rain, it's super dry air that's why we can't make snow balls, or snow men in the winter, as we only get powder snow, no moisture.

i have 500 style cooler on mine with a t3 and the lag is not even noticable, the only time you can make it noticable is 35mph in 5th and put your foot down , it lags for about 8 seconds then it picks up and pulls away all other gears when booting it the boost is just always there

I run a 500 cooler myself, 99% of my lag went when I ditched the piece of shit L6, and had it mapped on after market ecu.
Mine boosts from 1400rpm, full boost by 2400/2500.
Any increase in air volume between the turbo and engine, such as the rs500 type cooler will have a impact, but it's not drastic.
I'll have a look on ebay for the item number, and post it, just add a resistor, job done, I've got 5 or 6 kicking around somewhere, resistor is only around 2 pence.

I've just been on ebay.co.uk, to look at the temp gauges and found these.
The sort I have is item number 350462407667, £4.99, this is intended for computers but looks smart imo, it would need a resistor added as it is 5V and not 12v.
The item number 110520038508 is a red led sort, there is also a blue led one, these are 12v already and cost £6.59, there is a lcd one 160573835201 also 12v costing £6.69
All the above are selectable C/F and the last one also has a clock, and can have another probe added.
All these have metal probes, so they can be fitted in the plenum etc, all I did was use a bolt in place of the valve from the breather that normally sits in the plenum cover and drill it, feed the wires through, and push the probe in from the end of the bolt towards the head, make sure it is a tight fit, think I used a 4.2mm drill bit, I used a 3mm to start with all the way through then gradually drilled down with a 4.2mm to suit the probe diameter , leaving around 10mm exposed.
On my gauge I also used a 3 position switch so that I can choose from any of the two temp readings I want(centre position is off), you will need to buy another gauge just for the temp probe though.
If you don't want to monitor any pressurised temps, there are the same gauges as the first one with a different sensor for £0.99p, + £2.50 p+p, these would be suitable for airboxes etc, but nowhere immersed or subject to pressure or fluids.
