Hi ,

my friends cosworth 4x4 1990 has under the dashboard a potentiometer what seems to be using the original wireharness . The difference in drive is very noticeable but boost pressure stays the same . Car is imported from Italy .

Picture of the switch and the wireharness will follow any ideas ?

Most likely a octane adjust, in italy these are normally mounted in the roof of the glovebox, ie you have to open the gb to turn it.

What he ^^ says, it should ground pins 13 and 14 on ECU if so, this retards the timing by 2,4 or 8 degrees, be very careful when playing with this as you could cause damage.

Just a thought, does the car have air con ?, some had a adjustable switch mounted remotely, think it was linked into the trinary switch but not sure .

I think the idea is that you can adjust how cold the a/c gets to rather than having to blend it with hot air, just have a twiddle see what happens.

That is the original adjuster for the aircon. My cossie from Italy also has this button. It works the same as the old adjuster on your refrigde at home.

It has a capilar with contains a some kind of flued and it is just basically a switch for the aircon to go on and off.
