Default Wiring Loom Q's

i have just been informed by my car restorer that my loom is mullered, i think it's from where a lot of alarms and immobilisers have previously been fitted and time and heat has taken its's toll. would a normal sierra loom be any good ie see link???

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SIERRA-RWD-2WD...item53e7dcdaa9

would this be ok to patch the bust bits or i would guess the answer would be get a whole loom from a cossie to replace mine while it's a bare shell??

Thanks for any advice.

Your link is an ABS loom only, If your car loom is that bad then theres no time like the present with a bare shell

As said thats just for the ABS, the one you are after is a CAR loom and yes they are exactly the same as a Ghia model on which it's based.

If you can change it, i have a few problems with the engine and abs loom in my car. I re-paired the abs loom as only 1 had got damaged as for the engine loom i bought a brand new loom.

thanks for the comments guys, most helpfull as always, it looks like i will be raplacing the car loom not the abs or engine loom, it will all depend on where the alarms and immob's where att too, and how much of the rest of the loom has melted to itself due to these connections, hopefully get some pics to me soon, i am in afghan so am just waiting on pics

Most systems typically immobilise the ignition and starter circuit (Assuming two point immobilsation) and so won't have affected the engine loom.

This is best practice, be very wary if someone has interferred with the fuel pump circuit.

Yes there is a difference, the main one being the outer wires on the TPS are reversed, but easy to sort out.

Exactly what he ^^ said, I think the 4x4 loom also includes a connector so you can separate it at the bulkhead which is handy, opposed to having to remove the whole loom should the need arise.
