Cosworth std cam timing
Whats the best way to set the std cams with a set of verniers with no marks on them. Its hard to see in a straight line the cam pulleys in my car. What are the settings on the dial gauge, when its set to tdc.How critical is it,would i notice a degree or 2 out or either exhaust or inlet cam.

But i believe that vernier pulleys are a good thing no matter what spec you have - as long as true tdc is found and a dial gauge is used to adjust them. Those markings there are on some verniers are not nearly precise enough. If you dont have a timing disc, you can find one on google and print it out on photopaper.

As the std cams in the cossie are very mild within 4 degrees you shouldn't notice much difference if any.
The easiest way to set them is with the std pulleys first, it's a bit long winded but accurate, set correctly with std pulleys, but with the cam pulley bolt just done up finger tight, now remove rocker cover, and remove bearing cap next to each bearing housing, place a bit of soft leather or suede on cam and bolt down cap slightly, take out cam bolts, slacken tensioner remove pulleys, line up verniers finger tight on cam bolts belt on re tension, remove leather suede job done.
