Default Removing standard air filter to fit cone filter

I'm removing my standard air filter box to fit a cone filter. What do I have to do about the hose connected to it that comes from the little breather box thing below the inlet manifold?

That is your breather outlet, I have seen the original hose plumbed into the back of the cone filter, however it coats the filter in oily muck. I have also seen a breather filter put on the outlet at the manifold, but thats not ideal either. Best bet in the long run is a breather/seperator plumbed in.
What boost is she running?

Although very "eco" to plumb it back in to the cone filter, it's not that good for the engine performance wise.

Totally standard at the moment but will eventually be hoping for around 300-330bhp on greens, chip, -31 and a T34 so will be running whatever boost is needed for that.
How do the separators work then? And where does it redirect the fumes etc to?

There's a few variations on the theme of breather, but basically all work the same by taking all the engine pipes where pressure comes out to a cylinder/chamber, then sometimes onto a air filter, a lot are vented to the atmosphere, some have filters in the end parts, some are very expensive overpriced bits that are crap some aren't, not a hard diy thing to make if you have the tools.

What would you recommend me to do then? Buy a Bailey breather kit? I didn't really want any of those aluminium pots and stuff under the bonnet but obviously I'll have to do something with this hose when I fit the cone filter.

You can get less intrusive breather systems than the bulky ones that are all bling, a breather is a breather, look on ratsport.co.uk for inspiration, personally I wouldn't encourage anyone to buy a bailey breather, but each to their own and all that.

Thanks but I've already bought a filter, so if I decide to go down the route of keeping the breather venting into the intake system then I shall just drill the one I've got.
