Will not run over 5500 rpm?

I was racing to day and did alright, 12,7 sec 1/4 mile, but on my way home I noticed the engine suddenly could not run over 5500 rpm, any ideas why and what this could be?
All good advices greatly appreciated.

Check the phase sensor.

I had something similar when the exhaust cam slipped on the vernier pully. If not, maybe check the belt hasnt slipped.
