Default how much boost can i run on my t34???

i have a saph cossie & its running:

uprated pistons
uprated cams (kent i think)
rs500 intercooler
t34 turbo & uprated actuator (22psi)
grey injectors
samco hoses
pipercross airfilter
full s/s mongoose exhaust
3 bar map sensor
chip to suit above

its quick & spec says 380bhp but im having it rolling roaded when i get home & would like 2 get the most out of it

so what boost can i run on this?

cheers

Speak to the person who did your chip before winding up the boost, it might not be mapped above a certain boost for example, worth a phone call

It isn't 380 on a T34 at 22psi, so I would get it on the rollers anyway, for a fuelling check.

all i have a is a list of mods for car & this is the bhp at the flywheel reading thats on there but no rolling road print out to show this. hence i want 2 get it set up

unsure what chips in it???????? as came like it

my real question is what is the turbo/injectors good for???????

will get map checked when on rolling road to make sure it can handle it but it used 2 run 50-100 shot of nos ontop of this back in the day but this has been removed now

What he ^^ said, it isn't 380HP, I would of thought the injectors are overkill as well personally, usually for what you have you'd have 803's or the now equivilant Siemens 55LB.

But as said anyway it's not simply just a case of upping the boost as you will require a re map etc and vitally if you already haven't done so a rewire of the fuel pump and cooling fans or a power check under load on the former at the minimum, these are two major weak points!

Your greys will flow up to 450 so no probs there. and the most ive seen ppl run safely on a T34.48 is 30psi peak.

I only run mine at 23psi as i like it safe. but feel like upping it now as its starting to feel slow lol

How much depends on how risky you want to be, I've seen these run 2.5 bar before now, around 37psi, the greys will at the std rail pressure run 450 no problem so leave them in, saves buying some more, and leave a little extra room for further mods.
Your T34 will be the limiting factor, a T34.48 for example will run around the 360/370 mark flat out, with a larger turbine .63 (exhaust housing) will run more, I'd say around 390bhp.
Your head will also be a limiting factor as they are pretty shit to start with, a decent Ł300 port job will pay massively in the drive ability dept when set up.
If you're serious about your car, then I'd seriously consider moving away from chips and go after market, best thing I ever did, especially for MPG.
I did Watton, to Scarborough on one tank in my cossie at average 44mph, going A17/A15 route so no motorway work to speak of and averaged 40.8 MPG, with close on 200, 000 miles on the original bottom end(head was already done).
Having just rebuilt the engine it is being mapped(in watton where I live) with a lot more boost on 16 may, just got to put my rad back on after modification, fitment of a rail on top where the oil cooler sits.

Tabetha - What would you say is the most boost i could safely run with my T34.48 on a 205 block?
I had it set up at oddkidd and jano put it at a safe 23psi as he knows i like to bang it off the limiter a lot

wouldnt mind upping it as i know my friends have ran theres when on same spec at 30psi peak holding 28 with no probs.

**If you're serious about your car, then I'd seriously consider moving away from taking advice from people who dont know what they are on about, and talk to a tuner of your choice, work with them and take the advise they give you.**

i ran my t34.48 spec at 36psi peak, flat out all the way to the limiter with around 22psi left at 7500rpm. and did over 75k miles in 3 years with no issues at all, would cruise at lambda 1 all day, so was as good on fuel as any correctly mapped car would be.

That amazes me James, just shows it they can take it, now whether folks want to do it it's their personal choice, but i bet that made one-hell of a quick road car?

Did you have headwork, different cams etc too mate??

I ported the head to my own spec, but used STD cams they work really well with the t34s and make loads of torque 420 lb/ft infact on mine

It was an ace road car

Your own spec James? Have you done many yb heads?

I'd disagree on cams aswell, strangles them at higher rpm the head work will obv help but a inlet cam transforms a t34 engine! The dyno tells no lies and is visibly better across most the rev range boost for boost

I find the .48 boost tails at high rpm as a good engine happily consumes all the turbo can make, I would fit an inlet cam on a .63

Correct, but a inlet cam really does make them so much better!

Our most popular conversion is blues t34.48 with a inlet cam

We take escos .63 off and put the 48s on they're so much nicer, without going ported head your not going to benefit the 63 anyway really just loose the bottom end punch of the 48!

Either way the inlet cam is great with t34s!

I've done a few heads for my own use and good friends, always had good results really, had an old flow bench where I used to teach so that came in handy. Sadly don't get time for playing around like that anymore which is a shame as it was good fun in my spare time!

The 63 deffo has more legs than the 48 though, they run out of puff up high, ace road cars though which is why I stuck with it

Oh yeah deffinately just the punchiness of the 48 is awesome and they don't drop till 7200 really, ill have to get a few dyno graphs as they peak around 7k on 48 with inlet cam

Banging it off the limiter is no problem as he would have set the limiter safe, I set my soft cut to 7300rpm with hard cut at either 7500 or 7600, can't remember at the mo, as engine had 200,000 miles on it, all on original bottom end, and still cracked 40mpg without trying too hard, though not on std ecu, best thing I did was bin that, and the "bind" to certain people with the software for it to change etc, I get three maps for Ł280, but don't bother with closed loop as not needed imo(and others), I run a soft build up of boost for the wet etc.
"safe" would depend on so many things, even some big names wouldn't know a decent map if it bit them on the rs(imo), turbo wear would obviously be a consideration, as would general engine wear etc.
It's your car at the end of the day, but seriously consider a G4 ecu swap, it's a cracking deal from people like danny.

[quote=James @ M Developments.;5449402]Punchy is the word,

thats why iv cept my car on a wee t3 for a year. its ran 22psi for 8 months and for the last month 27 psi as im replasing it. but its still holding boost well, just not the oil and smoking.
somthing good about them small back housings, comes on boost like a jack russell chasing a ball.

So are you saying there's no -point having headwork on a .48 Housing, or on a T34 in general??
