Default misfire on 1990 saph cos 4x4

hi guys some advice please. on full chat its fine up untill just over 5,000 rpm then it seems as though its hitting the rev limiter which i believe it should be 6,500 rpm. sometimes it will break through it but its bloody embaresing especially if ya racing some chav up the by pass lol! seems to do it more in 3rd than other gears but done it in second last night which it never done before but its normally ok in 5th though could be load on the engine?? ive changed dizzy cap and rotor arm. gonna try leads next or might shell out the extortianate £400 for the wasted spark kit. i fitted new plugs and set gaps for stage 1.

Clean the crank sensor up, they sometimes get gunged up off the front crank seal and check the gap

Between 0.6 - 1 mm

Then it's a process of elimination if it's not that,

phase sensor,

ignition amplifier

also, dont forget to change the coil lead, this does 4 times the amount of work the others do and some people dont change it....

Had this problem on mine once, was just like hitting a rev-limiter but would sometimes pull through it. I fitted a new crank position sensor and a new phase sensor and it was fine after that.

No the hard cut is at 7000RPM on standard software, it may have been changed as desired by the chip author, it does however has strategy's in between, although not a true soft cut things like missing injection pulses, don't confuse a rev limit with overboost protection though.

When was the fuel filter changed?

What's the rev counter doing when it mis-fires? is it jumping around?

Check that the fuel rail is secure, mine had this problem last week and it turned out that one of the fuel rail brackets had fractured and under full boost it was blowing the injector out of its seat
