Default Who's moved up from a .48 housing on a T34 to a .63 and??

What was spool up differences like please?? i know top-end will obviously be better, just want to know what/where you were/are coming on boost etc...

Had a .48 on my old 3 door and now have a .63 on my Escos. the .63 does feel slighlty slower to spool up, starts boosting around 3-3250 and full chat by around 3600-3750rpm
Hopefully this can be improved when I have it re-mapped

mines on a .63 pete and has been livemapped ,is a bit sluggish to pickup but when it does it fookin flyes mate

my brothers escort is on a .63 its starts making boost before 3k, BUT when it comes on boost it pulls strong,

i had a 48 on my saff and a 63 on my escos that i had both at the same time...

I prefered the 48 as it was far less laggier IMO

i had the .48, then moved to the .63. Loved the punch from the .48, but when i fitted the .63 and had it remapped, the punch is unbelievably hard! deffo a bit more laggy, and annoying at times to be totally honest, but i wouldnt change back.

It leaves my mates gollardo standing too

if you didn't like your 38 and worried about lag i would stick with the .48 as your not chasing big numbers just a bit more pull/speed.

as you know pete,the cams were all wrong in g88 for the t38,have you had a run out in a t38 atall ,i never have but have heard great reports on them be it not as good as the gt30,s

a.55 maybe is the best choice, it can approach about 400-420hp,and less lag than .63,some cosworth builders prefer this e.housing

I don't find the .48 lacking at the top end, not terribly so anyway.
I must admit when I had £300 worth of porting done, it made a HUGE difference to power above about 5500, pulls hard all the way to the softcut at 7300rpm(hardcut 7600), was well worth £300, improved everywhere, as head as std is a bit of a disaster.

Tab, what porting was done for that cost excuse my ignorance?? i thought headwork was always around £800-1000 ??

It was I'm 99% sure just some de shrouding of the exhaust port, as person who did it(Damico 01953 717784), said they are a bit of a disaster flow wise for performance, situated about 5 miles from Snetterton circuit.
The next step is another £300, which he says will improve all over the rev range again but even more, it really has made a surprising difference esp at top end where it used to run out at 5500 or so, pulls a lot harder to this and beyond, keep hitting limiter in 4th dead easy.

Hi,
On my ecu(emerald K3) the soft cut uses ignition retard and fuel pulse cuts to let you know the(user) pre set limit is reached, you can drive through it if need be, but when the hard cut limit you set is reached it cuts all sparks and all fuel pulses, till below that rpm set.
I also have a buzzer instead of the shift light ran from the ecu at 6400.

Pete,
Quite simply - do not waste you time with a t34!

However, you are your own man and i have had all 3 well known variants of the t34 before moving to the 3071

t34.48 - quick spool up. Cracked exhaust housing around wastegate penny on my stage 3 setup. approx 1.6 bar. Boost tailed off, but sod all lag between gear changes.

t34.55 - not sure why i bothered with it tbh. I listened to rainbird and while he was in fact correct about it being better than the 48 for top end power it was virtually the same as the 48. Same spool up from memory, no lag between gear changes and slightyl better puff higher up the rev range.

t34.63 - was expecting the worst as every expert *cough* out there says laggy as fuck, undriveable, would piss me off blah blah. UTTER horse shit. Slim was correct as per. By far the best exhaust housing on a t34. Ok slightly longer to spool but peaked at 2.5 bar and holding 2bar (maybe a smidge under) to approx 6700 rpm. Came in with a huge shove in the back and i wish i hadn't spent £300 of my hard earnt on the 55 but never mind.

If you must have a t34 get the 63 housing. But if you dont have to get a t34 get a 3071, some bigger injectors and away you go. Forget t34's and t38's. Yesterday's news imo.

Good reply that fella and i appreciate what you're saying on the 3071, thing is though dude, i have NO headwork, Standard Cams, 205 block which imo would be ok etc etc, so i'd NOT be making the most of the 3071 capabilities, yes i know folks will say running a 3071 @ 400-420 is SO safe WHY run a 34.63 @ 2.4 bar and have it DIE maybe?? it's a hard one Rich and i know where you're coming from mate AND i have thought about the 3071 too..
