Default sierra trackday top mounts

hello,
i would like your opinion which top mounts are a good option for a trackday caged sierra 3 door. I found the following in some photos but i don't know who makes them....

if you know something else which you have tested let me know...
the setup of the car will be bilstein coilovers with compression struts and adjustable tcas.

thanks

any that locate UNDER the strut top of the shell like that should be fine.

be wary of any that mount on top of it though.

Top one is an eccentric top mount. I think I paid about £60 for a pair. Comp Brake I think sells them. They allow you to introduce a small amount of camber and caster adjustment and they don't add much to the handling. Mine are in and back a little bit and running standard ride height.

Bottom one replaces the rubber mount with a nice spherical bearing. More expensive I thnk at £140ish and a very nice set up as it gets rid of the rubber mount and unsophisticated top mount and allows better movement if you adjusting the bottom of the suspension for camber, caster or track.

Neither one will add much to your handling as they really suit adjustable suspension set-ups and complement geometry changes at the bottom. Either is a good choice if you are making changes elsewhere.

Spied these on ebay - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Sierra-Escort-...item2ea8009ce1

No idea if they'd be good or not?

Yes, theyre actually a bit better than the eccentric ones and loads cheaper .
charlie is partially right , they can be used set camber but have no bearing on the Castor ,they only lean the strut back as the fulcrum is still retained at the bottom knuckle , i personally dont really like the Eccentric versions as theyre the wrong size for the turret tower and unless your lucky theyre never fitted identically both sides .They also reduce the compression of the damper by over an inch due to the location of the bearing ,which is lower in the strut than the std kit ,if you want to go much lower you will run out of travel !
Fords later GpA & WRC cars all had Top mounts mounted ABOVE the turret as well as below ,albeit on a strengthened tower ,this was also raised by several inches to allow the car lower in Tarmac form and to allow greater suspension travel for Gravel .

The bottom ones are for wide track only ,they only fit inside widened turrets . I wouldn't want any rubber at all in a vital suspension component so you have only really the Compbrake types on a budget.
