I went for a blast earlier and had a bit of a job shifting from 3rd to 4th at top revs. I swear that the clutch felt like it stuck a bit and there was the usual smell too... not strong but there. Later on in traffic etc. it was fine. Anyone experienced this before?

Its a 6 paddle job with new release bearing and cover about 1000 miles ago. The car is running around 450 bhp. The gearbox is recon and done the same miles so doubt if its that.

Will try it again next week but anyone experienced this before - clutch drag I guess you would call it?

Not the old case of the clutch CABLE getting too hot and it picks up on the liner inside the cable outer ?

Is it an alcon?

Mines does it sometimes if trying to change at 8k.

fitting and AP cover should sort it.

Cable is also new Tab so that should be OK. Even put extra heat shield sleeve on it for that reason. Not sure of the cover make but yeah, it was at around 8k that I had the problem Euan. Does it happen to you often mate?

Did the AP one sort it for you?

It used to happen alot when the clutch was new but has not been a problem that continued and have no problems with it foras long as I can remember.

The problem is the springs in the alcon cover are not strong enough to re engage at the high revs( I think).

I was told by a very reliable source that fitting the AP cover would cure it.

i was going to fit alcon to mine,maybe i wont now!

I have driven AP and Alcon and my Alcon has a WAY better feel then the AP.

If i was going for another clutch I would fit exactly what I have again!

Might be worth letting it settle a bit then and see what happens - its not like its a race car I guess I'll see how patient I can be with my changes ;-D

Yeah Andy its worth trying to see how it goes as mines defo got alot better and it only ever did it if i was really rushing the changes very high in the rev range.

Mine changes at 7300rpm perfectly.

Will test mine again next weekend Tab but at below 7 it seemed fine, it was only at top revs that it seemed to stick - unless it gets worse of course!!

Had a great blast tonight and did a couple of aggressive gear changes - all seems fine so maybe that cleared it? Either that or I need to grow a longer left leg!!
