2wd cossie
I bought this cossie last week that was sat for 3 years in a barn im led to belive. 107000 miles it runs but its a bit smokey and the brakes are siezed. There is a few patches of rust on the rear arches boot floor and sills. cost me £950
Now i really would like to have it on the road and cosworth tuners in my area (Aberdeen) arnt very close just seem to be jap tuners.
Would the smoke come from rings, valve seals or turbo ?
Also found in glove box were 803 greens and a chip
Anyone know the spec of the chip? it says sierra sapphire 2.0l BD47 on it.
Any help would be great thanks.

3 years is along time mate not to be started up.. the turbo could just be shot due to wear and the seals may have dried out etc..
well that depends if your handy with the spanners.. you could ebuild your whole engine at home mate

£950
well done mate; bargain
mine was stood for 11 years with the head off and my rings were fine; what colour is the smoke; could be valve stem seals or it could of needed a rebuild before it was stored in the barn - best thing to do is take it too somone who knows cossies and what they are looking at
as for the chip, i wouldnt use it; get a new chip of someone like MSD in Blackpool

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
Nice find
Few places worth taking it to, AVA in Glasgow, AP Motorsport in Edinburgh even Agra in Dundee will rebuild a cossie engine, heard they do a good job but never used them for cossie, they rebuilt my pinto though.

Dont be scared to get stuck in chap...the cossie yb is a doddle to work on being so basic. If you get stuck just ask on here for help, plenty of really knowledgable people on passionford (few cocks as well but you can normaly see thru them tbh lol)
As said, £950 is a bargain, well done!
ps ebay is a very usefull parts source for a cossie owner but if your new to cossies then be carefull what you start bidding on, as well as having great bargains etc its also riddled with crap sold by tossers.

Today i went to 3 garages to get a can of petrol, as we are not allowed to fill cans only £20 per car WTF!?
So got the cossie fired up took a video and she doesnt sound too healthy running off a cylinder and smoking worse than i thought .
Then noticed smoke out the bonnet, so had a look and the air box which was open was filled with strange looking grey oil that came out the breather pipe.
Could this be head gasket ??
