i get what you mean and that would be alot easier that way ,but i read somewhere that its the wire itsself that goes out to the pump which deteriorates so by leaving this in would it not be defeating the object of the re-wire coz it leaving in a weak cable ??? or am i looking to deeply into it ?

u can still get the original wiring with the correct terminals if u keeping your original fuel pump i have them but never used them can give u the part number if u like?how i done mine is have a fused live from the battery all the way to the back then using the red black wire coming out of the fuel cut off switch in the boot under the spare wheel(2wd not sure if it the same on a 4x4?)used that as the feed for my switching side on my new relay the original earth for the pump i used for the earthing side for the switching side!(this way the fuel cut off switch is still in the circuit!)the used the brand new feed to the new relay brand newe live from relay to pump and new earth(earthed mine out on the rear anti roll bar mount!) hope this helps?

I was thinking.. Could take a battery feed for the new relay from my sub, already in the boot??
Obviously would make a good job of it, fused seperatly and use a decent h/d connection block.
Does anyone think that would be ok? or not?

Because the original wiring wears out, so the pump pumps less well, so you underfuel, and melt a piston, hurrah!

I would NOT use a amp supply cable as these draw lots of current so it will dip, when music whacked up, safer to use seperate supply.
The purpose of a rewire is to eliminate any old high resistance that may be present in the up to 22 year old wiring, on cossies, as any(DC) electrical motor(fuel pump) is VERY voltage sensitive and if it slows down your fuel supply gets low, sometimes low enough to do damage.
I put the relays on the area at the back of the nearside rear seat , up near the turret top as there is already a nice convenient 8mm hold there to hold the relay holder, AND if going to show or suchlike, you need only pull the relay for extra free security.
A group a pump at full chat draws 13 amps, so 28/030 is plenty big enough, I use 32/020 thinwall wire myself.
