Did it overheat or just get hotter than normal, ie was it pushing water out the expansion tank ?
You can get a test kit, but a cheaper way is to gas sniff it at MOT place, as the air in the tank will have CO in it if gone.

I'd be surprised if it had gone from what you are describing mate. I assume it held water once it was topped up? Gauge senders often pack up after a boil so watch out for that.

In a similar situation with mine mate, although I dropped coolant on a top speed run at brunters!! Its booked into Reyland saturday for diagnosis - not looking good as its missfiring and steaming out the exhaust badly!!

Hope all is ok for you.
