Talking H.I.D. Headlamp conversion..... pics :)

Bought a HID H4 conversion kit from Ebay on recommendation from Rob@SCC (he has a H7 on his Golf Mk4)......

Fitted it yesterday and fook me what an easy job.....lol

Before.... (althought on sidelights and not main)

After....

Balast pack....

Wiring out of rear of lamp....

There's NO additional wiring need, the whole lot just plugs into the std 3 pin plug...

Is that number plate a legal font size etc, as after one like that for my cos, got one today, and going to cut down to smallest legal size, so losing a good 6-8" anyway.

tabetha,

no it's smaller.

KSA,

Take the plastic rear off the headlamp and drill/chew a 21mm ish hole in it, thread wiring thru hole.
Remove std bulb and insert HID bulb.
Plug 3 pin connector from HID kit to std Ford 3 pin connector.
Put plastic rear part of headlamp back on.
Drill small hole on inner wing and attach balast pack.
Repeat on other side...

Job done

In all honesty you could do both sides in well under 10 minutes, mine took longer as I took the lamps out so I could remove the wipers and motors for the headlamps as I hate them with a passion!!!

They DO illuminate the warning symbol, as they did when I relayed mine with 130/90's.

Just fitted h3 and h4 bi-xenon to my xr4x4, much better light. Cats eyes really glow.
Bulb failure light on but the h4 has separate live feed so expected and no dim-dip.

If you don't want to go HID, then I found that PHILIPS EXTREME H4 60/55 were twice as bright as the 130/90's I had in, despite drawing a lot less current, and look VERY similar to HID on dip, with masses of light.
On my other car(astra mk3) I also rewired slightly so that dip stays on even on main beam, makes a massive difference for a bit of wire.
