Buy one with a recent engine rebuild, documented. Don't be impressed by "FSH" on an 80k car or similar - you buy it just in time for it's first rebuild LoL.

Watch for rust

Well if it's late spec I'd say it's a 4x4?
Lots of points to be honest mate, but one for me would definately be the strut tops in the engine bay(very common problem), once they start rusting between there and the inner wing it's a pain in the arse to sort. Also Rust underneath (chasis legs @ rear) obviously, but should be ok if its a later car, also check for rust in the spare wheel well in the boot aswell. Most other rusty bits should be fairly easy to spot, now on the mechanical front, how compotent are you?

This might help a bit, but it is for an early 2WD saph.

And it all depends who built the engine !!!!

Its ok saying its had an engine rebuild but then there are mechanics out there who have slept with a mechanic and couldnt build a model car never mind a fookin engine

Get someone in the know cos if you buy a shitter it will cost you severely

Just make sure the body work is good. I wouldnt buy the first 1 you see either. I looked at 3 cossies n i bought the 3rd 1 i seen. I love my car but i kick myself cause i think i should of looked at a few more first. Mine came with a full service history. I had a fault with my car where it kept cutting out . It turned out to be the fuel filter full of poo. This had never been changed in its life.
