Sierra Ghia Estate value
Hi
I'm a newby on here, so sorry for asking a question on my first day. Also, apologies if this is not in the right place on the forum.
A relative of mine has died recently and he had a 1983 Sierra Ghia Estate - 2 litre.
It isn't for sale and his wife isn't looking to sell it - certainly in the short term, but was wondering what it might be worth.
I haven't seen it for a long time, although it was still used until late last year. It is taxed and does have a current MOT.
No idea what condition it's in at the moment. The last time I saw it it was OK - not perfect but not tatty either. I assume it's still like that.
That's pretty vague I know, and I do realise that condition can make all the difference to prices, but wondered if anyone had an idea of a low and high price depending on condition.
No pictures at the moment and don't want to ask for any yet.
I guess these were pretty rare when new and can only assume that there aren't many around. Anyone have any info on numbers sold originally and how many are left. Most sites don't differentiate between saloon and estates.
What is the parts availability like on these old Fords? I am a triumph man (TR6) and know that most parts are available from a few dedicated places for those, but I've no idea what this model would be like.
I have had a lot of Fords in the past (probably more than any other make) and looking back now I wish I still had some of them!
Thanks in anticipation.
Roger

without pictures it's going to be very hard to give a realistic value on anything
condition is everything, even if it's scrap there will be parts on it that would make it have a certain value
if it's not breaking the rules your best bet would be to get onto facebook and look up a group called ford sierra appreciation club as there are a lot of people who restore cars there or use them as daily drivers and they would have a much better idea if your £1500 car is worth £1500 or if it's worth £1500

The 2.3 V6 (Ghia) was only available until 85 and the 1300 was (eventually) dropped in 86.

Things have changed and my wife's Aunt has decided to sell the car, so I have now been tasked with selling the Sierra Ghia Estate.
I drove to pick it up on Tuesday and all went well.
It's on my drive now and I'll get some photos of it over the next couple of days.

Some photos of the car as it stands.
Twelve months+ MOT - until 31 March 2022 with no advisories.
2.0 litre with 5 speed gearbox (gearbox not original).
3 previous owners (although the last one is my wife's Aunt who registered it herself when her husband died - she never drove it).
Recently had four new tyres and new battery.
It has been looked after by the same local garage since at least 2007 with some invoices showing work done. I have some old MOTs.
Generally looks OK, with some minor scrapes and dings. A bit of rust on one of the back doors at the top near the window. Nothing major that I can see.
Interior looks tatty but original.
Tailgate doesn't stay open easily - possibly needs new struts.
Roof lining sagging at the back.
Mileage circa 64000 but not sure if that correct or whether it's been around the clock.
I drove it to my house a couple of days ago and it drove the 190 miles very well.
Any input as to what price sounds right would be much appreciated and if anyone is interested, please get in touch via PM.
Thanks
Roger

Thanks.
No rust that I can see other than the little bit on the back door.
Any idea of a ballpark figure I should ask for it?
I really have no idea on Ford values - I'm a Triumph bloke!

PassionFord Post Whore!!
Look on E-bay, autotrader etc to see if any similar ones are for sale and what people are asking for them. It would probably be a good car for someone but I doubt if it will fetch big money.

Thanks for that, but I think it's a closed group. What is it called and I'll try to search for it?
