They are different mate - think its 7.5 inch for a 2wd and 7 for a 4wd. Am sure someone will confirm if I'm right

Won't a 4x4 one fit with a couple of spacers?? Thought I heard that somewhere?? Are the driveshaft mountings the same?

A 4x4 diff will fit ina 2wd beam with a couple of spacers on the top bolt (nearest diff hanger). However the driveshafts will not fit as 2wd ones have bigger flanges than the 4x4 diff output flanges.

I hope thats confused you somewhat Kev

A 2wd one fits a 4x4 beam if you saw 1/4" off each end as well, as said you need 4wd driveshafts.

the 2wd diff is wider at the top than the 4wd diff which is why it won't actually fit into the beam, but it's not structural, only for the bolt to go through so you asn remove it without any problems
the other major differences are that the 2wd diff has 108mm output flanges and the 4wd one has 100mm output flanges
and you can't just get away with changing the shafts for 4wd ones either because the other ends where they gfo into the stub axles/hubs etc are also bigger so these would need to be changed as well

a bit of an arse reallty
