Default Going through the gears to qiuck

HI pepole,
just a question for you lot about my old mans sapphire 4x4 it seem to go through the gears far to quick compared to his escort cosworth he had before this one and they are runing about the same spec (we think)and both cars are about 330bhp to 350bhp but this one seems a lot faster then the escort(we went out last week and he had a play with an evo 9 fq320 and my old man was pushing up the road and then he got in front of the evo and he could not get back passed us ) and when you gets to about 100mph it sounds like it needs a sixth gear and the revs are some were around 3 to 4000rpm and there is nothing up with the clutch or the rev counter and when he bought the car the chap said the that the gear box had not long been rebuilt.

Thanks for any help on this pepole

100mph it sounds like it needs a sixth gear and the revs are some were around 3 to 4000rpm

That RPM sounds about right for 100mph doesn't it?

Maybe the Escos he had before had an optimistic bhp figure??

just a thought , could it have a differant ratio of diff fitted instead of the 3.62 , i use a 3.9 on mine and its quick through the gears, but could do with a 6th gear at high speed

the wheels on the escos are bigger than those on the saph so you will have to turn them more than the saph

which explains the descrepancy
