There is no good benefit at all (on a 4x4 anyway!!)
It's a case of having to have one if you have big brakes on the rear (as the standard caliper has a cable handbrake mechanism built in)
In my experience - stick to cable!!

thanks alot.... the previous owner sold me the car without the handbrake mechanism.. wondering if i should get a 4x4 caliper with 300mm disc or do a hyd conversion...
