Average MPG of a Cossie!
Before i take the plunge and get a Cossie what kind of MPG should i be expecting? My old Vectra 2.5 V6 (3.0 cams and a chip) was returning around 24. My Saph 2.0 EFi DOHC is returning around 27-30mpg.

on a motor way run i have had 360 miles to a tank.(tank is around £60 of high octane)
which eqates to 25mpg
normal driving 250 miles to tank some diving fast some slow!
better on fuel than my old 2.1 mk2 escort 100 miles to a tank if you were lucky!

As above - 350 ish on a motorway run and about 250 round town if driven sensibly most of the time.
I think the official book figure is around 22mpg for the urban cycle.

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
I pretty much drive my 4x4 saph everyday (stg 3+ setup) getting 30 miles to £10 and on the motorway could push it to 50 miles to £10. But yeh pretty much averaging around 15mpg and thats like kinda driving normal'ish...
Heard a lot of good things about the closed-loop setup but if you aint going down that route dont expect the fuel costs to be economical
Hope that helps
Cheers

I log every mile and fill up cost/amount(because I'm nerdy)
I get around 23mpg in town work, up to 35mpg on a run, that is with mixed driving but if I start to boot it it can drop to 10/12mpg.
I have shed loads more economy now that I have a ported head, just £275 worth of work, best money I ever spent, can easily get 350 to a tank, but nearer 250-280 as I did not buy it to crawl everywhere.
As soon as I feel a bit of boost I want more so the foot goes down a bit further, and so the petrol!!
Modding mine for low end torque was the best thing ever, for performance and economy.

It pisses me off that the greedy goverment are making a fortune out of us putting petrol in our cars. If the fuel was cheaper i wouldn t mind putting petrol in my cossie. But i totally forget about that when im driving the car.

Takes the piss even more when you think of the petrol you are wasting sat in traffic after paying a road tax so you can drive, then being denied that, by jams and having to also pay a congestion charge as well as parking fees!!
