Default Sierra 2lt in a Spitfire

Hello,

My 1st post of here. I keep to Volvo 480's but about 6months ago I got myself a right rusty heap of Triumph Spitfire which I sent away for body resto and now it's back.

I picked up a 2lt sierra with MTX75 g/box for next to nothing and today I picked up the spitfire and push it into the cold and saw about getting the engine in.

Problems are.

Alternator fowls the driveside upright (holds the shock/spring etc)
Inlet manifold is to far to big

Otherwise the engine does fit the hole.

My thoughts are.... Replace inlet manifold with a slim DIY one and change the uprights from left to right.

Question is.... Has anyone moved the alternator to the exhaust side? and can I get a oil sump which is not so deep from another ford which fits my 2lt DOHC.

Cheers

btw I have not fitted the zetec as the sierra lump was so cheap and makes enough power for a little spitfire

Not what you want to hear, but isn't the Triumph bit the problem?

Yes it is. However if I can get the alternator moved up and another sump or maybe cut down depending on the oil pickup of course i'm in business.

I think i'll go and find some kit car forums and see what they say. Cheers

For placing the alternator to the other side you probably need to make up a bracket or mod the original one so it won't foul the turrets anymore.
As far as sumps concerned, maybe a Escort RS2000 sump can help you out. Not sure it fits as a straight swap but AFAIK the block on the Sierra DOHC and the Escort RS2000 block are (practically) the same.
