Boost/running problem
Some of you may have read that we have a battery/drain problem, I am not sure if this is related - could be lack of voltage/tired wiring to the fuel pump.
Is a stage one 'plug & play' chip from Power Engineering in 1999 IIRC (a Power one upgrade) have change various sensors, new 2-bar (standard) MAP sensor for one, amal valve, tdc sensor etc,.
Doesn't seem as bad putting foot down from a standing start (although still sometimes happens) but mostly if already travelling and put foot down hits so many revs and stutters, kind of a brrrrrt noise, then wont boost (psi varies as does revs) and wont rev any higher, sometimes will back fire at this point, overfuel??
Plug number 1 always gets blackened, infact I think NGK BCP7EVX not run hot enough am going to try BKR8EIX in case the spark is being 'blown' out, a lot of oil around plug number one.
Seemed to be ok once replaced the battery, but this didn't last long, is bad if you drop down a gear, or let the revs die down when already rolling then put your foot down it gets 'stuck', any ideas gratefully received!

Cheer for the reply chap
Hmm I dunno how old the coil is.... I change changed dizzy cap, rotor and leads last year and IIRC phase sensor at some point in the last year or two (it only does around 500 miles if that )

Checked last night, new coil. Did a head test and compression test and all seemed fine (compression around 140)
So bit stumped, if you run your finger round the header tank feels greasy/oily but head test was fine - was suggested that heads go porous if not used, or that the head wasn't skimmed when rebuilt, piston one looked wet when all other are dry (meaning oil is blowing by ring?) but as said head test and compression ok
