noisey bottom pulley..
Hello all,
Anyone got any ideas??
My bottom pulley is making an odd noise. It sounds 'dry' (but not squelling) it's like a hwhoo hwhoo hwhoo, if you know what I mean. I sprayed a bit WD40 on it from under the car on the ramps this morning and it went straight away. However I knew the WD40 would not last long so I put some copper grease into it and it last about 20 minutes and the sound returned. Anyone had the same problem or any one know how to cure it. I was going to cake it with high temperature grease but I don't want it to 'spray' all over.
Thank in advance,

Don't do any of what you have done as it will dry out more.
You can get BELT DRESSING, never needed or used it but some say it's good some say not.
I use TALCUM POWDER, on the smooth side of the belt, so might be worth a try ?

I have noticed this on some cars, like my dads mondeo, I cured that by roughing up with emery cloth the surface of the idler pulley/tensioner pulley, any surface that bears on the smooth side of the belt.
I did all the above first, which did not work, but have come to the conclusion it is the material that causes it on a lot, so MAYBE a different brand of belt might be worth a try.
