So now I'm learning. Having never had a four door sierra, I'd assumed that I would need a five door interior. Does your rear bench tip forward, and the rear seat back fold down?
And not that I use it much, is there a 'split seat' function?
I chose a five door because as my main car I do want the occasional convenience of a hatch/mini estate. Have I really been turning a blind eye to all those saphire interiors when they DO fit?
Thanks for the lessons....

Im no expert but i have recently changed my interior to a black leather interior from my mint grey recaro interior purely for the fact i think it looked better...I sourced the different parts from different traders and after being assured all carpets are the same on sierra's,the black carpet i bought and fitted for my sapphire was from a 5 door xr4x4,which proves that the floorpan is the same and the seat mounting holes are in the same place....the rear bench does not tip forward on a sapphire, but the rear seat splits and folds down on top of it.

Although the cossie interior will fit the 4be you will need to modify the brackets on the rear seats. They need relocating so will have to weld them onto the correct location for the hatchback. If you don't you have no way of securing the seat from falling forwards.

he is talking escort vs. sierra.
different floor pans. the recaros them selves will fit but you will more than likely have to use different slider brackets. the rear seats in the esco are usually smaller to.
I dont see a whole lot of mk5's around here though.

OK OK. I can see people getting confused here!
I have a black five door 2.9 4x4, which I'm gradually turning into a 24v. I've got the suspension how I want it and I'm in the process of fitting some proper brakes (HiSpec 285mm billet 4) and a decent exhaust.
After that it's time to insert a proper engine, as to my mind this car carries around far too much weight (and traction!) for it's meagre 140 odd horses, so I'll be looking to put in a 24v cossie with bob cams (or more?) and if I can source it a decent exhaust manifold too, as the standard one looks like the weak link to me. (Incidentally, someone at Kent Cams said the same....there's not much they ccould do with cam profile in the cosworth without attending to manifolds first.....)
In time it'd be nice to have a full leather interior, but that's way down my list of priorities at the mo.
Meantime, although the interior (grey velour) is immaculate (this was a one owner ford serviced car till I bought it) that standard seat has almost no side support for the sort of cornering I like to do on any corner I come across without a wally in the way.
So I've had my eye on the occasional (cheap) possibility of swapping just the front seats for some grey velour recaros, so at least I've got something decent to sit in while I hoon around seeing just how fast I can wear my tyres out.
Mark rs has an immaculate grey velour interior to offer, but it's a saphire, so it seems a) I need to do some welding to the back seat, b) it won't fold flat and give me the load space I occasionally need (and which if I didn't I'd have bought a Cossie in the first place) and c) my dash, carpets, centre console and rear seats are immaculate already anyway. So seems a waste of my time and money, or a shame to split up his full interior.
As all I need is two front seats.....
On the 'bay there's a profusion of escort front seats on offer, sometimes at silly prices. Last week there was some immaculate grey velour recaros out of an RS2000 that looked the part. (Me, I thought an RS2000 was a rather nice oversteery beast from the 70's, but seems that they called one of their Mk5's rs2000 too, which sounds a piss take to me, as I always thought that the Mk5 escort was one of the worst cars ford ever made, but there we go).
Anyway, TurboFlush seems to think I can use the front seats, but I'll have to change the runners. And whereas I'll not think twice about taking a head off, stripping it, giving it a loving recon and putting it back on, on almost any car, Italian exotica included, I go all fingers and thumbs when it gets to tricky stuff like interiors and bodywork. And I HATE working on seats and dashes and in footwells as it does my back in!
So I'm looking for two nice grey velour recaros that I can slot in nice and easy and hopefully pay not much money for.
I'll get there.
Thanks guys,
Al
