Converting my 3 door to 4x4
I've got a nice 3 door running 400bhp and I'm thinking of converting it to 4x4 to get the power down and ease the loose back end , I've got a donar car so parts not a problem, just after some of you opinions really?
Cheers

I have a 4x4 3dr converted about 9/10 yr ago.
I to was fed up driving sideways all the time on greasy wet roads when I only wanted to go fast.
Personally I found it great for all weather driving in Uk.
But where I live now it is always dry and hot and it is boring.
I maybe moving soon and will be back on greasy roads for a fair part of the yr where it will come in handy again.
So in summary it really depends on your preference and intended use.

My Cossie is scary enough with 4x4, couldn't imagine 2WD but plenty of people say it's fun.
My only thought would be are you devaluing your car? Maybe just buy an EsCos instead?

I can see what you are thinking but if you are running 400bhp then you will be wanting an uprated 4x4 box aswell and thats another Ł3k on top of the basic price. Not to mention the Diffs if you drive the car hard.
2WD's can keep up and in some cases be faster than 4x4's around tracks even in the Wet. Just takes Skill, commitment, bottle, or stupidity. Oh and every now and then a love of Grass tracking
