Right then mate, there are a few different ways to do this, the easy way or the hard way .

I chose the easy way, which is :

1 rip out the front driveshafts (leaving the stubshafts still bolted on to hold the front hubs together), the front diff, the wanky 4x4 MT75 box+the linkage and the 4x4 propshaft. You also need to take the 4x4 starter motor out.
fit- 2wd T5 box using a special ford mount (finis code 6177696) that is £12, lines a 2wd box up in a 4x4 chassis
Speedo cable- fit a 2wd item to your clocks, and you will have to drill a hole in your gearbox mount to fit it to the T5
Fit the 2wd prop shaft.
Cut the passenger side sump bracing arm up enough to fit the 2wd starter motor. ( saves fucking around changing sumps/oil pumps/pickups.

You now have a 2wd car - you can leave the rear beam and 7" diff if you like.
But the rear beams are a straight swap, leave the trailing arms on the car, and fit a 2wd beam and 7.5" diff onto the 4x4 trailing arms, it all fits perfect. Again, if you want to save the hassle, just cut a little bit off each side of the 2wd diff casing ( just the top mount!) and it will line up fine.

Or, if you want to get involved

2wd cross member, steering rack, front hubs, brakes, 2wd sump, oil pump, pickup pipe. 2wd box, beam/ diff, prop, box, (use the special mount again)

As long as you mount the T5 correctly then you won't have major headaches

There was a smokestone saff at ford fair that had been converted to 2wd by fitting a MT75 box out of a 2.0l sierra but using the 4x4 bellhousing, never heard of this before but this must be quite straight foward, he said the 2wd MT75 box had a nice feel to it,anyone ever heard of this way of doing it ?

Simon.
