I believe its a late 2wd head with the 3 bolt thermostat mount, which is essentially a mass production version of the 500 head

The RS500 ones didnt have "coscast" cast into them on the front.

heres a pic of a 500 one

Not sure it exist.
Fast Ford of this month, with RS500 article, say inlet dowell is only on homologation.
But RS500 repair manual shows this dowell.

The RS500 engines fitted to the production cars did have the 2 dowels on the inlet face - which matched to two holes in the plenum trumpet face

but this would be easy to replicate on a late 2wd 3 bolt head, its the coscast bit thats the give away thats its not a 500 one - its just as good as one though

This was done on all 500 heads , but for no ther reason than to homologate the race cars ,,IE, the race cars had it so it had to be done on the road cars or homologation wouldnt be correct

done before the engine was fitted in the road cars by Tickford

Does it have a 3 bolt fixing for the thermostat housing, the extra one is the one on the upper right in the pics shown above, if its only 2 bolts its a standard early 2wd head

So are they worth much then? i think mine may be a 500 head, it has an RS500 thermostat housing, and no coscast markings...??

just wondering

If it also have the dowels on the inlet side, cast lugs for support for turbo, thickness is good and head is still hard.

Then and only then is it worth something.

All this and it has got to be worth 800 - 1000GBP.

More if someone really wants it.
