removing rear halfshafts on 2wd??
I need to know how to remove the halfshafts from a rear diff on my 2wd saff.....never done a cossie before but ive only ever seen the snap rings like on fwd cars.....saffs obviously dont have this set up so how do i get them out.
Also whats the big ring with the notches on that you can see between the shaft and the diff casing????.....if you know what i mean

The big ring is to adjust the preload on the bearing for the flange/shaft inside the casing itself.
They simply unbolt with 6 allen or torx bolts either end so dead easy.

Bummer!!
Never done one but preload is crucial to long life, I have done preloads before on things with FISHING SCALES, and measured levers so ratio was same etc.
Just find out what preload should be and DIY, not hard just a bit of an arse to do under car.
I'll look into this for you but will take a few days.
I would not let your neighbour do any more(damage)!!

tell me about it....hes like a bull in a china shop,im really annoyed TBH.
diff is off the car if that helps and its a quaife atb too..all i wanted to do was take the shafts out to sell it as ive broken my car now.
i would really appreciate any guidelines on doing this right as i do not want to sell a quaife to someone knowing its not set up right.
