Default Dump Valve Problem

Hi mates,

i have now my second dumpvalve, the first was an universal diaphragm valve, it was loud but its very stupidly if it blows evertime, even if i haven boost, and it blows very long.

Now i have buyed me the Bailey DV24, so im think it will be better but the difference is minimum.

Are there anyone who böows only if i have boost and not so long, it can be loud, thats no Problem

Gutten Morgen!!
A dump valve will ONLY blow if it has pressure there ie boost, as other wise it has nothing to let out so to speak.
When you go from driving(on boost) to let off the accelerator the vacuum overcomes the spring and so allows valve to open to atmosphere(or recirc)but if no boost there you cannot get any sound.
I have a Diaphragm type in mine, group a that is very loud, I even drilled the holes in the body out bigger to make louder.

The dump valve will open everytime it is on the overun, but only when boost is present, as it needs this pressure to force open the valve.
If it is opening purely and only on vacuum prerssure(overun), then it needs adjusting.

Sounds like the spring in your diaphragm dump valves are weak, causing it to dump when theirs not allot of pressure and for a longer time!

Now I think about it mine came from DEMON TWEEKS, I think I will get back to you on it as already fitted to car, but think it is DT one, I'll send you a PM with No of it.
No everyone thinks I mean Lubeck(can't get UMLAUTS!!), IT WAS lubbecke 4990 near MINDEN/BUNDE/OSNABRUCK, not too far from HERFORD.
Best place that I have ever lived at as was all of germany to be honest, went to SCHULE in RINTELN, quite near HAMELN, of PIED PIPER FAME!!
I spent 16 years out there(germany) LUBBECKE/BUNDE/RHEINDAHLEN/KREFELD/NEUENKIRCHEN/born in WEGBERG too.

I left LUBBECKE in 1982, so showing my age here.
Even the local camp is not there anymore, 2nd ARMOURED DIVISION HQ & SIGNALS REGIMENT.
It is now a detention centre, will be going back next year to have a look around my old place .
The Neuenkirchen I lived at was bulldozed for a Autobahn shortly after we moved out, had a power station right next to it.
Had a look on the web this morning and mine is either been changed in design slightly or it's a GGR basic one or a REVTEC basic one, most likely GGR as the rest of the stuff that had been put on the car was.
Works perfect, only got a bit sticky three times, for about 1 minute at a time that's all, and new diaphragms are available for it as well.

dox, Bailey DV's are more of a metaly p'tinnggg weird sound lol u'll know once u hear it!

Brocker, prob with ure d/v is the sing has gone soft and isnt holding it closed firm enough so boost escapes very easily, by stretching the spring it gives it some of its firmness/spring back in it...it will work!

The nearest I can find is the GGR150.
Demontweeks used to do the exact same one, but I would just use a GGR150 as at least you know the quality is there.
It is not exactly unusual for the BAILEY ones to stick, or to be open easy like yours, thier quality seems all over the place at times, NO "TUV"!!!
It needs stronger in your case, stretching it will not be any good as the spring has memory, hecnce it being a spring, it "SPRINGS" back into shape, ie length that it was made at, you could see if you could pack it out to increase pressure, or just get a GGR150 about £45.

Bailey should be good, I don't like them myself as hear of too many failures.
Any diaphragem type is going to be louder than piston in general.
Mine is VERY loud, I even drilled the holes out as big as I dare without it collapsing, and it got a bit louder still!!
Pistons types tend to be more of a whistle, where as diaphragm ones tend to be more ssshhh sound, which I prefer.
I have a recirc one as well, and two switches for them so I can turn either one on or both or both off for chatter.
