I have a set of white Compomotive wheels that go onto the original wheel studs but I only get a few turns of the chrome wheel nuts (5.5 turns actually) to hold them on. I don't think this is enough for track use so I'm going back to original wheels for competitive use.

I guess the solution to this is to use longer wheel studs. Has anyone done this? Are there long wheel studs available? Can I use a set from a different model? Transit? Are they easy to change?

Any pointers would be very useful.

Anybody used these? I think I've probably answered my own question. Do I just knock the old ones out with a hammer, and then hammer the new ones in?

If anyone has changed theirs, please let me know if it's as simple as this.

The new is just need to put them into the holes of hub and with washer (bigger nut) to tight them with their own nuts until it completely sit on their places on hub.

knock the old ones out with a hammer
try and knock the new ones into place with a soft faced mallet so that you won't damage anything if you miss
then use some steel wheelnuts, fitted the wrong way round so that the flat face is against the hubs side and pull them through

you don't really need a spacer because all you do is put the disc back on again and use that, it's much easier just keep going until you feel them lock up into place
after a few miles recheck them as you really don't want them to come loose

Thanks Dojj. That sounds straightforward. Any thoughts on the ones I posted the picture of? Actually I'll call the seller tomorrow and ask him about them. I'm not sure how much longer they are than the standard ones.

I had to go for longer studs to fit up my bbs rims.....as dojj said, just knock them out then pull the new ones in using a wheel nut. I got mine from a local wheel specialists and wernt expensive inc new nuts. Tried phoning speedshack???

I done this to my 3 door and my evo i was only getting 4 turns on my evo and nearly 6 on my 3 door. makes me feel much better now when driving the car hard!!

Just put 13mm longer ones on mine yesterday... bit of a fiddle bending the backplate to get in but no real probs. Let me know if you want pics as took a few.
Some were pretty tight and I mangled a couple of my spare wheel nuts which I used to protect the threads on the old ones - just in case I needed em again.

Use a washer in my opinion - helps to tighen em in

Im sure you can get some. I had to get longer ones for my fiesta after i fitted cossie brakes and had to put spacers on to fit my RL7's

Yeah I know, I was hoping someone would say "KarBar or Halfrauds sell them", no big problem if I have to wait a few days but with a long weekend coming kinda hoped I'd get to fit them and play with the car all weekend
