Default no instrument warning lamps

just bought an Hreg xr4x4 2.0 and there is no dash warning lamps and wont start. It turns over just wont start. Got it last night and turned ignition on and they worked, butwas back firing like plug leads were on the wrong way. Replaced leads tonight and now no lamps and no start. Any ideas what could be the problem, thanks mike

Start at the basics like igntion feed from battery, then out to panel warning lights etc.
Any backfiring could be anything, and unrelated, check the firing order first, then check all engine management connectors are on ok.

mate had the same problem with the lights, turned out that the pcb behind the dash had got fried and a replacement sorted the problem

just make sure you have a replacement from one with a rev counter
