Insurance at 20?
hiya
IM looking at getting insurance for my 89 sapphire cosworth. Im sure there was a post ages ago about young drivers and cosworth insurance, buy i cant find it.
What companys are good for cosworth insurance? Who are you young drivers with? Im sure people said they got good prices when only 19 .
Im 20 with 2 years NCB and will only be using the car for summer. Will only do 3000 miles max.
Anya ideas?

Try competition car insurance, iu'm 27 with 1 yaer ncb and agreed value at 9.5k and 800 comp in ch43!!
Mate of mine just turned 21 and he's running (or will be when he gets it back from Mr Hadland!) 450 ish bhp 2wd and he's paying 1500 comp all mods declared
The number is usually in the back of the demon tweeks catalogue, give them a call!

When I was young and had fast cars I would get my father to do the insurance with the policy covering all drivers, or me as a named driver. With a limited mileage policy that should be the cheap option and you are covered. Of course there's always the risk that if you have a serious crash the insurance company will be asking questions, so do it at your own risk.
I wouldn't be surprised if you have real difficulty in finding someone to cover you at that age. Even under 25 is not easy.
Good luck.

I had a quote of £2300 with hyperformance (who my focus is insured with) two weeks ago. 23, 9 points 4ncb. They told me to wait until next year (July) when i'm 25. So that's what i'm doing. On the up side i've just won some Lattice cossie rims on ebay ready for my new car .

if you'd phoned around for insurance 3 weeks ago you may have stood a chance of getting covered but i'm sure its all just changed and you now have to be aged 21 or over to insure any kind of performance car. even tradex have bumped the age up to 26 for cars over 1800cc unless you are a customer that has been with them for a while.

It Wasnt Me!
How about a 24year old, 1yrs driving experience, no NCB and live in a decent postcode area, got my RS turbo insured as a 2nd driver for £450 tpft....no chance?
Might try it as a 2nd driver again, but will prob NEED to be TPFT to get any decent sorta quote
