Default ROYAL PURPLE OIL IS THE BEST

My cossie 4x4 is low mileage and in great condition (compression pressures 140 psi) but suffers from that age old problem of using oil that comes up frequently on this forum. This happens when in boost so I get a mixture of blue and black smoke so having checked and renewed everything as you do when you own a cossie I happened to change oil to Royal Purple 20W50 synthetic as it gets a bit hot here in Canada and boy what a difference, once I got over the shock of seeing purple oil coming out of the bottle. Now I have gone from 1 pint to 1000 kms to ZILCH Zero Nada oil consumption and better fuel consumption and better burning of the fuel and quieter engine and a slight increase in power. Not bad ay. So I'm sold on it after being faithful to Mobil 1.

Hi captiva
Is your cossie a left hand drive ? did you buy it in Canada or import it ?
The reason I'm asking is that I am considering emigtating to Nova Scotia in the not to distant future, my problem is do I bring my 1989 2 wheel drive Sapphire or not ? I really want to, but not sure on the laws importing a car to Canada
Thanks
David

I imported both my Cossies because left hand drive is really important here as a RHD has little or no value plus they are going to make insurance high on RHD so bring a LHD and it has to be more than 15 yrs old. I can guide you through the importing when you are ready. Anyway why Nova Scotia pretty though it is there's no work there everyone is leaving for Alberta, the economy is so strong here we have a surplus of money ($8.8 billion) not a national debt. I think it has something to do with all the oil we are sitting on and we sell it to the UK for some obscene profit, Ha Ha

Hi captiva,
not really bothered about what my RHD would be worth in Canada, the reason i want to bring it is because I've had it since new, it's only just covered 20,000 miles, I've had it stored for the last 12 years, so it is as new, As for Nova Scotia, main reason is my sister is about to move there from Saskatoon, so I thought I'd give it a try, I hate to say it but the UK is now fooked, it is going down hill at an alarming rate, ( in my opinion), can't believe how many people I know are getting out of this place, I certainly wouldn't want to be here in 10 years time !
Shame I will be a long way from you, or I'd have been able to repair your car for you, had years of experience repairing, Cosworths, I've owned quite a few, a mix of all variants, first one was a 3dr, bought it when it was only 2 months old, Moonstone Blue, wish I still had it !
You'll have to tell me where you got your Cosworth imported from and if you had any problems, I'll PM you my e mail addy if you want, save us getting told off for not posting car related banter in this thread.
Cheers
David

PS Royal Purple is about $ 120 Canadian for 5litres here !
