Hi troops, well the 4x4 has a wee few probs and being a hello hello what have we here then fuzz man my mechanics av seen alot of probs, how easy for a re-shell? mots a none start
1 steering colum movemaent between shaft and steering wheel(bad)
2 nearsidefront constant velocity joint gaiter component u/s
3 fuel tank strap u/s from strutts
4 steering colum massive movment
5 nearside rear anti roll bar linkage ruber mounting u/s
6 offside rear anti rool bar the same..
7 nearside rear sub frame attachment rubber mount u/s
8 offside rear sub-frame attachment rubber mounting deteriorated resulting in massive movment
9 nearside silno strength 30cm of body mounts
10 offside front vehicle structure has excessive corrosion no strength 30 cm
oh and the list goes on and on
HELP

Doesn't sound that bad mate, apart from needing a new steering column and a bit of rust sorting it's not too bad.

You may aswell change all the knackered bushes for poly ones, and the cv gaitor and fuel tank strap and easy enough to change too.

I wouldn't let it get to you mate, a little bit of time and effort and she'll be spot on.

ONLY bit that maybe you can't do yourself(?) is the welding on rear sills.
The steering column moves due to the bush in the bulkhead being knackered, £4 from ford still available.
It does not soundlike it has been looked after for all this, but it is easy stuff to do not too costly either, "get stuck in to get the grin", you will have when driving it sideways!!

At least its not all that bad, but man you get wound up, saphs are great cars if looked after, also its nice if the prev owner told us lol, not saying anything, well dam right rude, corner for you sunshine, oh and no cozzys for 10 years

If it's any help i paid 8k 2 months ago for saph 4x4 body mint engine high spec but good so far i've had both front wheel bearings done offside so bad had to replace whole hub replaced the lifters tyres will need doing soon steering colum will also need doing soon the list goes on it's only when you get to know your car u find these things and best of all it came with 12 months ticket i think prev owner had a mate in the test centre
A little time an money will sort her out will all be worth it in the end mate i'm sure

MY cos had been serviced by three "specilists" , including the one who owned it for two years.
When I got it last year I changed the fuel filter dated(written on)25/6/94!!
I thought the steering was vague, so bought a new bulkhead bush and the old ones centre was not in the centre but RESTING ON THE EDGE of the outer bit!!.
There was also a old rolling road printout at 148bhp at the crank!!, so must have run well.
